obs-shaderfilter

obs-shaderfilter 2.6.1

I'm so confused. Got an error message when I updated to OBS 33 that the grayscale file was missing. Updated shaderfilter, fixed the problem. Updated OBS to 33.0.1 and got the message again. And when I look through the files/folders, it seems like that file's gone. Even after re-installing the plugin.

Bit the bullet and did the 33 upgrade, oh boy what a rabbithole, anyway I ended up deleting all my plugins and starting over installing them one at a time - used the installed for Sharefilter 2.6.1 and although it shows up and I can assign it to the scene elements as expected, when I load any of my old shaders or any of the ones in the /examples folder nothing seems to work at all.

I'm simply trying to apply any of the example filters to a screen capture element (Which I used successfully in v31 before this issue) and the only settings that seem to influence the output are the 4 at the top (Expand...) - none of the example shaders or my old ones I was using previously seem to trigger anything. Updated my NVidia drivers today, just to rule that out.

Anyone any suggestions?

As per 33/34 plugin architecture, I found the files here:

C:\ProgramData\obs-studio\plugins\obs-shaderfilter\examples
C:\ProgramData\obs-studio\plugins\obs-shaderfilter\internal
C:\ProgramData\obs-studio\plugins\obs-shaderfilter\locale
C:\ProgramData\obs-studio\plugins\obs-shaderfilter\textures
C:\ProgramData\obs-studio\plugins\obs-shaderfilter\manifest.json
C:\ProgramData\obs-studio\plugins\obs-shaderfilter\obs-shaderfilter.dll
C:\ProgramData\obs-studio\plugins\obs-shaderfilter\obs-shaderfilter.pdb

I also have:

C:\Program Files\obs-studio\obs-plugins\32bit
C:\Program Files\obs-studio\obs-plugins\32bit\obs-shaderfilter.dll
C:\Program Files\obs-studio\obs-plugins\32bit\obs-shaderfilter.pdb
C:\Program Files\obs-studio\obs-plugins\64bit
C:\Program Files\obs-studio\obs-plugins\64bit\obs-shaderfilter.dll
C:\Program Files\obs-studio\obs-plugins\64bit\obs-shaderfilter.pdb

In the log I have now:

09:22:55.501: [obs-shaderfilter] failed to read file: C:\ProgramData\obs-studio\plugins\obs-shaderfilter\data\internal\render_output.effect

09:22:55.501: [obs-shaderfilter] failed to read file: C:\ProgramData\obs-studio/plugins/obs-shaderfilter/data/internal/render_output.effect

09:22:55.501: [obs-shaderfilter] Unable to load render_output.effect file. Errors:

09:22:55.501: (None)

Could this be due to installation permissions / Protected Folder Access? obs.exe is addedd to the application passthrough there, and I don't have anything in the protected folder log. To be sure, I re-ran the installer for the plugin this morning before reporting back.

@denyerec the plugin installer does not install in programdata, as long as OBS 34 (planned for August 2027) does not exist please do not manually move the files over and break things. The old location should work fine. If you do manually move make sure do it correctly and use C:\ProgramData\obs-studio\plugins\obs-shaderfilter\data\internal instead of C:\ProgramData\obs-studio\plugins\obs-shaderfilter\internal, the same for the other data folders

Thanks for the super fast help! The /programdata files must have been my first attempt at getting OBS to load the plugins before updating them all - which would explain why subsequently the uninstaller didn't remove them! :)

It's working with everything in a /data/ subfolder now - but would you still recommend leaving it alone until the "Official" 34 version is released? If so I'll delete everything and reinstall it from the .exe

Is there a length for the burn shader? Or does it just keep generating randomly? I'm trying to record a video with a seamless loop of the smoke passing through and it seems pretty much impossible.

Hi, Exeldro, excellent plugin! I am, however, having a repeatable issue with the VHS filter. If I leave obs running on my 2nd pc for a couple/few days, the vhs filter's "waves" will freeze in place. I cannot restore their animation by refreshing, or reloading the effect. The only fix is to quit obs and relaunch. I'm hoping you might be able to figure out why it freezes after time, and fix. Thank you for your work!
