DroidCam Virtual Output

DroidCam Virtual Output 0.2.2

Thanks to the developer for this software. I have a few questions regarding its use:
1. Why does the log show an output resolution of 2560x1440, even though I have set my canvas to 1920x1080?
11:14:02.879: [DroidcamVirtualOut] webcam video active 2560x1440 30fps, video_ok=0
11:14:02.879: [DroidcamVirtualOut] video scaling: 1920x1080 -> 2560x1440 inside 2560x1440 at 0,0
11:15:46.836: [DroidcamVirtualOut] webcam became inactive
2. When using VLC to view the camera feed, the image appears sharper at a resolution of 2560x1440 compared to 1920x1080. However, regardless of the resolution used, the video is significantly blurrier than the preview shown within OBS. What could be the reason for this?

The webcam resolution is determined by the 3rd program (VLC in your case), and DroidCam will scale your obs canvas to match this. So if you obs canvas is 1920x1080 and VLC loads the camera at 2560x1440, then the plugin needs to do video scaling:
11:14:02.879: [DroidcamVirtualOut] video scaling: 1920x1080 -> 2560x1440 inside 2560x1440 at 0,0

You can specify the resolution in VLC before opening the camera: File -> Open capture device. Under "Options" enter 1920x1080 for 'Video Size'.

I've been trying to install the Droidcam obs virtual output plug-in but it keeps telling me that selected folder is missing obs-plug-ins directory.

Please i need help

It looks like the latest OBS v33 has broken the installer. Try creating "obs-plugins\64bit\" and "data\obs-plugins" folders inside your obs install, and try again to install droidcam. A fix will be released soon. Alternatively, you can use OBS v32 in the interim.

The webcam resolution is determined by the 3rd program (VLC in your case), and DroidCam will scale your obs canvas to match this. So if you obs canvas is 1920x1080 and VLC loads the camera at 2560x1440, then the plugin needs to do video scaling:
11:14:02.879: [DroidcamVirtualOut] video scaling: 1920x1080 -> 2560x1440 inside 2560x1440 at 0,0

You can specify the resolution in VLC before opening the camera: File -> Open capture device. Under "Options" enter 1920x1080 for 'Video Size'.
As shown in the third screenshot from my previous message, I have already set the resolution to 1920x1080 in VLC; however, the image appears very blurry—even less clear than at 2560x1440. My understanding is that when the resolution in third-party software matches the canvas resolution, no scaling should be required, which ought to result in the sharpest possible image.
The settings are as shown in the image below.
